The Tulsi Gabbard Effect Pt. 1
The Tulsi Gabbard Effect Part 1
Maui Fires and the Government Response
Tulsi Gabbard made an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience and commented on the government's response to the Maui wildfires or lack their of in her opinion. She served for Maui's district in Congress. She mentions the government officials on local, state and federal level failing on communicating anything at all to the public and still haven't. Gabbard thinks the government should be bending over backwards for the people and not the other way around.
She mentions a lack of preparation for wildfires as being a huge part of this problem beforehand as well a lack of manning in the fire department leading up to the event. The preparedness on the island was also felt in the aftermath as Gabbard lists the items such as gas, food water and resources that weren't available once the homes were burned that should have already been addressed.
She goes on to tell that nobody from the government came to help as the people had to help the people. In fact and most infuriating, the government kept people from bringing supplies and help to the island under illogical reasoning relative to the dire circumstance.
Evidence was also brought up that the governor of the state wants to also "take" the land for the government, which is very suspect or "insane" as Joe comments. Rumors had already been around about building a "15 minute city" in this location.
Joe and Gabbard go on to compare the amount of money sent to Maui (almost none) vs that sent to Ukraine (Probably at least 100 billion.) They mention how the government keeps sending money to Ukraine and not Maui.
Gabbard commented that Hawaiians asked her "Gabbi, what would happen if we called ourselves Ukraine?"
